A check engine light on a diesel can mean anything from a faulty sensor to a more serious issue with your fuel or emissions system. Don’t ignore it. The problem is usually easier (and cheaper) to fix if we catch it early.
This is one of the most common signs something is off. Black smoke usually means the engine is getting too much fuel or not enough air—often related to injectors, the air filter, or the turbo. White smoke (especially at startup) can be unburnt fuel, often pointing to a problem with glow plugs or fuel injectors.
This is a classic diesel issue, especially in the cold. It’s almost always related to your glow plug system. It could be one or more bad glow plugs, a faulty relay, or a controller. We can test the system and pinpoint the exact part that’s failing.
